The Right Mind Set

 

The key to weightloss or any other physical change you are trying to make is to have the right outlook and the patience to pursue that goal to the finish.  All great things in life take a little time and our bodies making change is no different.  We needed time to get heavy and out of shape, so we need time to go the other way as well.  Understand that small changes will see results as long as we have the patience to let them happen.

 

Monthly Focus for April

 

It was a chocolate binge....or the binge is still coming, and then the guilt.  Don't worry, you're not alone.  I know most of us ate way too much over the Easter weekend and now we have thoughts of fitness and nutrition. Let's turn those thoughts back into actions and get ready for the summertime.


Individual goals are the name of the game for April.  You need to decide what you want to improve, or what your weakness is and then develop a plan of attack.  If you think you need;


Strength - develop a 4 week plan that focuses on heavy lifting 2-4 times per week

Endurance - try to get out for runs, bike rides or swims 3-4 times per week

Speed - head over to the local track and do a series of sprint/rest intervals 2-3 times per week

Flexibility - can be done everyday to improve fitness and help with injury prevention.

As a general goal, aim for at least 30-60 minutes of physical activity 3-4 days each week. If you want to lose weight or meet specific fitness goals, you may need to exercise more.
